President of Tianjiao, James Zhan’s Baoji visit on May 14th, 2007

On May 14 th, 2007, the President of Tianjiao, James Zhan visited Baoji, a beautiful mountain city with a centuries old history. The Vice Mayor of Baoji, Guifang Liu, warmly greeted Mr. James Zhan before their private conversation. During the conference, Ms. Liu described the city’s culture and history as well as the current education system in Baoji. Ms. Liu also expressed a strong desire to be involved with international culture and educational exchanges. They are also willing to organize a delegation to attend the Second Session of the Sino-Canada International Educational Exchange Forum to be held in Beijing this July. Mr. James Zhan expressed his gratitude for the welcome of the Vice Mayor and gave a short presentation about the Canada-China cultural exchange programs. The Vice Mayor of Baoji, Ms. Liu and the president of Tianjiao, Mr. James Zhan, expressed their agreement that education is essential for the economic development of the country and the eradication of poverty. Enlarging international culture and education exchanges will not only help people know about China, but also know about western China and it’s education system. This will also benefit the Canadian education system through contact with different countries. After the conference the Vice Mayor of Baoji, Ms. Guifang Liu, presented gifts to Mr. James Zhan as a corroboration of the friendship between Canada and China.
